26 au 28 avril Féria d’Azille

One of the big weekends in our local calendar is the annual Feria d’Azille.

For those of you who have never seen it – it’s a crazy event which takes over the whole village of Azille, close to the Canal-du-Midi and Olonzac. Azille is normally a sleepy little village which hosts the occasional Brocante or Vide Grenier in its wide boulevard. However, when the last weekend of April arrives, everything changes. The Bulls arrive for the annual Feria.

The village goes into party mode, the entertainers arrive, along with the food and drink vendors and so do the crowds. It really is fun for all the family. No gory bloodshed here, it’s the Bulls that are in charge and they all survive to come again next year. It is a demonstration of skill and horsemanship.

There is of course a Bull-Ring, and that’s where the entertainment takes place. The graceful Matador will be demonstrating his skill of taunting the bull and dodging the horns at the last minute.  Teams of locals, doing daft things “It’s a Knockout” style, but with a young Bull thrown into the mix. Highly entertaining, free and part of what living in the Languedoc is about. Of course there will be music, lots of food, wine and people having a great time.

Fancy a visit? The Feria starts Friday 26th April and ends the following Sunday, 28th. There is a website with all the information you need here:
